Someone Now Open Within
The Sami have hundreds of words for snow:
as it falls, as it lies, as it has lain for days,
darkened, lightened, frozen and melted.
Nuanced, the inferences simulate capture
of crystalline meaning unimprisonable,
impenetrable lexicon of liquid light. So
what of you my lover, my friend? You fall,
you lie; you have lain weeks, months and years;
darkening and lightening we drift; passion
freezing and melting, evaporating to tenderly
fall from grayed oblivion into the arms of the
other. Opened. How shall I imprison your light
with word; unsnarable one? I will call you
simply—Someone Now Open Within.
