Skyscrapers

What a community values

is reflected in its tallest buildings.

Ernestine J. Hicks

Skyscrapers

They rise from the ground

nurtured by greed and lust,

reaching to a false heaven.

Puppeteered by masters of

Machiavellian industry, they

dazzle the dandies of church

and state never separated by

any ancient dictum. Peaking

Gaia’s complexion like stiff

meringue over fossilized filling,

they wait for the weighing of

feather and heart determining

the fate of their Pharaohs and

their own towering remains.
