Negotiation
There is a way to place the foot so it glides,
a rolling from heel to toe that lightens,
a way to reciprocate hip and hand that enables
a forward momentum,
a way to stay rooted and yet reach to the light
stretching limbs and bark splitting to blossom
and expand, to harmonically maneuver through
thickets and brambles
and never collide with the wind. There is a way
to spin even faster, to orbit in tandem with moons
and stars spinning their own plotted path through
gravities’ unrelenting pull,
back to beginnings where all contemplation
of negotiation and placement must start.
