Around The Lake
He said he saw himself
in the boy playing by the lake
with the ball as round as he was.
The boy saw the dog and asked
if he could fetch the ball
but the dog just sniffed his leg.
They walked around the lake
and talked, the boy without a dad,
the dog that wouldn’t fetch, and he,
deciding then they could all be
lost around the lake together.
